Why Tiki?

My husband and I have started to dive into the world of tiki. Hawaiian shirts are already a whole category in my husband's wardrobe and we have started a collection of tiki mugs. There is just something so fun about tiki bars. They often transport you to another place. We love the fun variety of drinks, the Disneyland-esq decor, and the relaxing vibe they instill. We are currently exploring all of the tiki-inspired places around where we live and always look for one when we travel. With our newfound interest, we decided to throw an end-of-summer party for our friends and themed it tiki. 

Tiki Time Party

I love to throw themed parties, mainly because I enjoy creating the decor and props. I even created moodboards and planned the whole visual aspect of the party. Here is my moodboard:

I took some inspiration from Palm Springs as they have two tiki bars that I like. This project was so fun! My husband and I collaborated on a drink sign where I did the illustrations and my husband put them together into the sign with text.

I also illustrated an invitation for the party and my husband added the text and formatted it for me.

My Tiki Pattern Collection

I was so inspired that I decided to design some patterns for this party as well. I was hoping to get the patterns printed on Spoonflower to make cloth napkins for the event but didn’t get the fabric in time. Here is my Tiki Time Collection:
