Tropical Vibes
Inspired
So for the month of May I have been seriously channeling some tropical vibes! It started with doing research for the Spoonflower Moody Tropical Wallpaper Challenge. I started to collect resources of cool looking tropical plants for inspiration. Here is my mood board:
After making one pattern, I thought I might make another, then another. I was hooked on the inspiration and just thought I would have fun with it to see where it would take me. Here are some of the tropical patterns I ended up with . . .
Wouldn’t these prints make fun outdoor pillows? I mocked up some to see how they looked.
Now unfortunately, I wasn’t quite feeling these for the Spoonflower contest so I made something else that felt more wallpaper like to me. I went with a two toned pattern, I will admit, wallpaper may not be my strong point but I did enjoy making this design.
After working on these designs I decided to go through some of my own photos from Hawaii and create some fun prints inspired by some of the plants I saw there. I was particularly inspired by the ginger plants. Here are some of my photos I used for inspiration
